ROBERT ‘BOB’ ZERBST

Robert “Bob” Kenneth Zerbst, a man loved by his family and cherished by his friends, passed away on July 7, 2024, in Newcastle, Wyoming, at Weston County Manor.

Born to William “Bill” and Edna Zerbst, Bob was the oldest of four siblings, growing up on the family ranch at the Cheyenne River south of Newcastle. He attended 1st through 10th grade at the 7 mile school before graduating from Newcastle High School in 1958.

The fall after graduation, at 18 years of age, Bob found work with Claude Kissack Sr. hauling water. Bob was a loyal friend and employee to Claude, even moving with him from Newcastle to Rozet, Wyoming, and continuing to work for him for over 20 years at Kissack Water and Oil Service.

Bob worked hard and was very successful in the oil field industry, working both onshore and offshore for various companies at remote locations — the North Slope of Alaska, the North Sea by Scotland and Cairo, Egypt — then ultimately becoming his own boss by owning and operating Rochelle Oil and Gas. His strength and stature earned him the nickname of Bubba throughout the oilfield over the years.

On June 22, 1982, he married the love of his life, Caron, and gained two daughters, Diana and Cindy.

Throughout his life, Bob was a dedicated husband and father, always putting his family first, especially his grandchildren. Bob’s life will be remembered by all who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of many.

Bob is survived by his wife, Caron; stepdaughters, Diana Anderson and Cindy Baker; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; half-brother, Glen Zerbst; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bob is preceded in death by his father, William “Bill” Zerbst; his mother, Edna Zerbst; brother, Leonard Zerbst; sister, Irma Wasserburger; stepson, Tom Martinez; and grandson, Jacob Baker.

Memorial service for Bob will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, July 15, at Gillette Memorial Chapel, with Vicki Kissack officiating; inurnment to follow at Rozet Cemetery.

Gathering of family and friends will be held on Sunday, July 14, from noon to 2 p.m., at Gillette Memorial Chapel.
