Feb. 26, 1964–June 11, 2024

Laurie Sue Martin, 60, of Greeley, Colorado, passed away on June 11, 2024, in Greeley.

She was born to Harold and Elta (Martin) Eatherton on Feb. 26, 1964 in Buffalo, Wyoming.

Laurie began her life of work with Pizza Hut her senior year of high school, advancing into management where she worked for 14 years. While working for Pizza Hut, she moved from Newcastle to Wheatland to Buffalo, before returning back to Newcastle. Once she settled back in Newcastle, she was blessed with the birth of her son, Nicholas, in 1987.

Laurie kept busy with a variety of jobs, working with her mom at Elta’s Paint and Glass. She obtained many other jobs at Flying V, traffic control on road construction projects, restoring and repairing antiques and furniture.

She also worked as an activities aid at a nursing home. While working with her mother, at Elta’s, she was able to learn the business and excel at every aspect of it. She was very proud to own her own janitorial business. Laurie took ownership of the business, once her mother was forced to retire due to health issues.

Laurie had her own health battles; she survived cancer, and battled courageously to the very end.

She became an avid gardener and was known for her love for all purple flowers and nearly all other colors as well. When she was home, you can be assured that she was on the couch reading one of her novels. Above all, she loved and adored her family, especially her grandchildren.

Laurie moved to Greeley in 2022 to be close to family. She was a member of Generations Church where she did a little bit of volunteer work.

She is survived by her son, Nicholas (Sherry) Martin; grandchildren, Trent Gould, Kaylee Gould (Bradley Self), Adyson Martin and Brexly Martin; one great-grandchild, Ryder; siblings, Tim Martin, and Janet (Bob) Fawcett; and a large extended family and friends.
