JERRY ARLEN SPRACKLEN

Jerry Arlen Spracklen, 78, of Newcastle, Wyoming, passed away Nov. 23, 2024, after a brief illness, in Sheridan, Wyoming. He was born on Aug. 3, 1946, in Douglas, Wyoming.
Jerry graduated from Newcastle High School in 1964. After graduation, he enlisted in the National Guard and later the Navy, and served honorably for 22 years. Throughout his military career he was stationed in Okinawa, Diego Garcia, Spain, California, Italy, Portugal, and Washington, D.C.
After retiring from the Navy in 1986, he went to work as a government contractor and was based out of Salt Lake City, Utah.
He retired in 2000 and moved back to Newcastle where he traveled throughout much of northeast Wyoming.
In 2022, he moved to Sheridan and lived there until his death.
Jerry is preceded in death by fathers, Quentin Spracklen and Edgar Ayres; mother, Olive Ayres; and brothers, Wayne Spracklen and Jim Ayres.
He is survived by three daughters, Tara Hollenbeck of Salt Lake City, Christina Holliday of Union, Missouri, and Tomi (Brian) Yeager of Newcastle; sisters, Holly (Chuck) Clements of Boise, Idaho, Ann (Inocencio) Ramos of Douglas, Wyoming; brothers, Timothy (Brenda) Ayres, of Newcastle, Bret Spracklen of Sutherland, Nebraska, and Bart Spracklen of Cheyenne, Wyoming; as well as seven grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Burial services will be held on Dec. 11 at 11:30 a.m. at Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, South Dakota. The service will be livestreamed on meridianmortuary.com.
