Introducing The Class of 2018: Jerry Groner
Jerry was born in Sundance, Wyo., to Cecil and Violet Groner on May 14, 1940. He spent his life growing up in Newcastle, Wyo. He graduated from Newcastle High School in 1959. He spent a year in Idaho working in the saw mill owned by his uncle and cousins. His life was an adventure, working as a mechanic, truck driver, dispatcher, oil field and he started a golf repair on the side.
He married his high school sweetheart, Maxine McIntosh, on Nov. 26, 1960. They had two children, Gary Lee, and 12 years later a daughter, Shauna.
His spare time was refereeing basketball games and running the “down marker” at football games with his friend Gene Egge, now deceased.
His love for people and especially children were important to him.
He looked forward to the fifth grade Mallo Days, and was a counselor and night watchman. He made many friends, he loved playing pranks while at camp.
His friends and family are very important to him, he loves his five grandchildren, Bailey, Spencer, Ryleigh, Kelby and Karissa and blessed with two great grandchildren, Declynn and Lachlan.
