April 30, 1937–Dec. 28, 2025

Our beloved mother and grandmother, Betty Ann Main Jensen, passed away peacefully on Dec. 28, 2025, in Frisco, Texas, at the age of 88, surrounded by love.

Betty was born on April 30, 1937, in Aberdeen, Washington, the middle daughter of William Stark Main and Jennie Betts Main. From an early age, she learned the values that would guide her life — hard work, service, faith, and quiet determination. She shared her childhood with her older sister, Mary, and her younger sister, Dorothy, forming bonds that lasted a lifetime. Betty graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1955, already showing the intelligence and curiosity that would shape her future.

She went on to attend Brigham Young University, where she met the love of her life, Robert Sophus Jensen. Their story was one of devotion, partnership, and shared faith. Betty earned both a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master’s degree in Bacteriology, achievements that reflected her sharp mind and dedication to helping others. Her work took her to the State of Washington, the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta, Georgia, and later to Children’s Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky, where her work quietly touched countless lives.

After Robert returned from his mission to Germany for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, they were married on Sept. 26, 1962, in the Manti Utah Temple, beginning a marriage built on love, faith, and mutual respect. As Robert pursued dental school at the University of Louisville, Betty continued her professional work while supporting their growing family.

Following dental school, the Jensens settled in Sheridan, Wyoming, where they spent 30 wonderful years (1968–1998). These were years filled with family life, church service, friendships, and joy. Betty was deeply involved in her community and church, offering her time, talents,
and compassion freely. Sheridan became home in every sense of the word.

In retirement, Betty and Robert moved to Riverton, Utah, to be closer to their daughter, Julie. After the loss of her beloved husband in 2004, Betty showed remarkable strength, eventually moving to Newcastle, Wyoming, to be near her son, Tom. There, she built a rich and meaningful life—volunteering at the B.R.E.A.D. office, serving faithfully in her church, sewing for countless friends and strangers alike, throwing pottery, and tending gardens that reflected her patience, creativity, and love of beauty.

After nearly 20 years in Newcastle, Betty’s health began to decline, and she moved to Frisco, Texas, to be cared for by her daughter Julie. Even in her later years, Betty’s kindness, quiet humor,
and gentle presence remained a blessing to those around her.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, and her be-loved husband.

She is survived by her daughter Julie (Frank); her son, Tom; and her treasured grandchildren, Jensen Craeston Hartmann, Quinlan Max Hartmann, Adrianna Jensen, and Nicholas Jensen, all of whom carry forward her legacy of love, faith, service, and strength.

A viewing will be held on Jan. 22 at 7 p.m. at Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 W. 4100 S., West Valley City, Utah. Graveside services will be held on Jan. 23, 2026, at 1 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Mount Pleasant, Utah.
