When winter goes away

By

Another week of single-digit high temperatures is headed our way, but we have faith that spring is still on the horizon and Pinnacle Bank’s announcement that they will continue the Fourth and the 4-Way tradition they started a year ago by bringing country music superstar Neal McCoy to Newcastle on Independence Day means that summer in Weston County will definitely be worth the wait.
Planning for the Weston County Fair has already begun, with an emphasis on attempting to attract more participants with new events, and the News Letter Journal is planning to host its own summer events again this year as well. Countless individuals and organizations stepped up last year to ensure that there were plenty of activities and events throughout the warmer months, and we believe many of them intend to do it again in 2019.
We hope those readers who missed out on the Independence Day activities and some of the other events offered in 2018 will start marking their calendars now, and making plans to stay in town when the community gets together this summer. Stay tuned to the NLJ in the weeks to come, and we will let you know when and where the parties will be!
