Kayla Caylor
Hello. As a life-long resident of the community of Upton, I would love to represent the community of Upton as a WCSD #7 school board trustee. I currently have four, soon to be five, of my own children attending the Upton Schools. As a parent, educator, and member of the community, I would be an invested representative voice to reach the goal of creating the best possible learning opportunities and environment for the educators and students in the Upton Schools.
Education is constantly changing and there is a need in our schools to give the choice and voice back to the educators in the Upton schools. At the end of the day, our teachers are the ones who spend the most time with our children. When we have educators who can maximize their creativity and experience, the results for our students will reflect this as they move through their education.
Another goal I would have is to keep the communication open with the stakeholders in the community. Parents, teachers, and students should know they have options and people to back them always. Collaboration, transparency, and accountability at all levels is a key component to providing successful learners. It takes a community to raise our children and the community should be involved in the education process.
The biggest responsibility a school board member has is to keep the best interest of all students in mind as they make decisions about their education. If elected, this would be my focus. Personalized learning has become a big concern. My goal is not to take away the opportunities from students who are doing well with this type of learning, but rather to provide educational options. I believe we can find a middle ground where all students are reaching their educational goals and learning to their maximum potential. Education is not black and white, and setting these limitations is a disservice to our students.
Please consider me in the general election for WCSD #7 school board trustee. First, I have an education background and could bring new ideas to our schools. Secondly, I have been a member of the community all my life and understand we must work as a team to do what is in the best interest of our students. Lastly, and most importantly, I have students four, soon the be five, in the Upton Schools. All of these shows I am passionate about creating the best learning environment for everyone involved; Our Children, Our Community, Our Future.
