Week Five USTFCCCA Coaches’ Polls Released

NEW ORLEANS (November 5, 2024) – The University of Wyoming men’s cross country program staked up with some of the best at No. 26, their second national ranking of the season, in the week five U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Coaches’ Poll, released on Tuesday. Cowboys were also fifth in the Mountain Region Poll while the Cowgirls were 10th.

Following the Cowboys' third-place finish ahead of then No. 19 Utah State at the Mountain West Championships last Friday, the men received 46 points for another Top-30 ranking. Mountain West teams in the national poll were New Mexico in sixth (278 points), Colorado State in 23rd (78 points) and Utah State receiving 10 points. Other teams that Wyoming will see at the NCAA Mountain Regionals in the poll include No. 1 BYU (330 points), No. 8 Northern Arizona (250 points), No. 27 Texas Tech (45 points) and Colorado receiving 21 points.

In the week five Mountain Region Poll released on Monday, the Cowboys stayed put in fifth, only behind BYU (1), New Mexico (2), Northern Arizona (3) and Colorado State (4).

While the Cowgirls didn’t see their name in the national poll, they were in 10th in the Mountain Region Poll behind Mountain West Foes New Mexico (4), Colorado State (6) and Air Force (9). The Cowgirls will see five nationally ranked teams at the NCAA Regional in No. 1 BYU (326 points), No. 4 Northern Arizona (296 points), No. 9 Utah (236 points), No. 10 New Mexico (235 points) and No. 30 Utah Valley (16 points).

Wyoming will be back in action next Friday, Nov. 15, for the NCAA Mountain Regionals in Reno, Nev. Both teams will run for a spot at the NCAA Championships in Madison, Wis.
