Time for carols and bells

The Weston County Community Cantata Choir and the Newcastle Community Handbell Choir will hold their annual Christmas Concert on Sunday, Dec. 10. The concert will begin at 2 p.m. in Crouch Auditorium, located at Newcastle High School.

The handbell choir will begin the concert with several carols, followed by some special performances by different individuals and groups. The event will conclude with the cantata.

This year’s cantata is “Night of the Father’s Love,” subtitled “The Awe and Mystery of God With Us.” It is written by Pepper Choplin and is a mix of familiar Christmas carols and some original music.

The program will conclude with refreshments in the high school commons area, next to the auditorium. Members of a few local churches will also provide refreshments.

The Weston County Arts Council sponsors the concert, which is free to all. Donations are appreciated, however, with all proceeds going to help bring future concerts to the public.
