St. Albert’s Church
Dear Editor,
I have been told by my Novak relatives in Newcastle that there were a few discrepancies in the article about St. Albert’s Church and that I should contact you to offer corrections. I am not a subscriber, however, and I have not read the article. My mother, Veronica Novak, and my brother, John G. Novak, both reside in Newcastle and both are NLJ subscribers. I am part owner, with my siblings, of the Novak Ranch, where the building formerly known as St. Albert’s Church is located. It was moved from its former location in the 1970s. St. Albert’s Cemetery remains where the church was
previously located, and among those buried there are my father, John Novak Jr. (2016), and his two uncles, Joseph and Albert Novak Jr. (1914). The land for the church and
cemetery were donated by my
great-grandfather, Albert Novak (no middle name), presumably around 1914 when Joe and Albert Jr. died. Albert and his wife, Ludwiga Novak, are buried at Greenwood cemetery in Newcastle. Please contact me for more information if needed. Thanks!
-Julie Novak Gonzales
