Ripping off the locals
Ripping off
the locals
Dear Editor
The expression “Rip Off” has always had a negative connotation to me but that is exactly what the gasoline dealers are doing to the residents of Newcastle. The rack price at the refinery is under a dollar a gallon and they are charging around $1.75 per gallon. The prices in Upton and in South Dakota are considerably less and they have transportation to pay. This is not a new situation but has been going on for years but the difference was not
this obvious.
In other towns when Maverick moves in they generally lower the price but not here for some reason. You can be sure that when oil prices increase the pump prices will be the first to show an increase. It is interesting that the 4way which usually has the highest prices has stayed in line with the others during this period. Perhaps they figure enough is enough.
