In honor of the legacy of Kathleen Tavegie, an original member of the Powder River Energy Foundation Board, the Foundation has established a memorial scholarship for Weston County students pursuing a degree in elementary education.
Tavegie, who passed away in 2019, was a longtime supporter of charitable causes in Weston County including education, arts, and health care. This scholarship was established in her honor.
Parents of applicants must be current members of Powder River Energy Corporation. Scholarship applications are due for consideration on June 1. Students can be recent high school graduates or already enrolled in college or post-secondary school.
In 2020, the Powder River Energy Foundation Board will award a total of $2,000 to winning applicants.
For more information about eligibility and getting an application, contact the guidance offices at Newcastle High School or Upton High School; or email communications@precorp.coop.
