Nominate those who make a difference
It is once again time to recognize those who have made a difference in the Weston County community, and we need your help.
Each year since 1996, the News Letter Journal has presented its Person of the Year award to a deserving member of the
community. This could be anyone who has made a difference in a life or lives of members of the Weston County community. In the past, these nominees have been neighbors, business owners, volunteers, or even elected officials. You may recognize names of folks like Paul Scheck, Norma Shelton, Pete Vorpal, Carl Hinz, and Don Thorson, who are all past winners of the NLJ POY award.
The News Letter Journal is currently seeking nominations for 2024 Person of the Year, and will feature those nominees — and the winner — in our first issue of 2025. The difference, sacrifice or contribution this individual has made can be big or small, as long as it matters to you.
Some of the impacts may be on a larger scale than others, but as long as this person has gone above and beyond to make a difference in the lives of those around them, we would love to hear about it.
We believe it is important to highlight these individuals and others, not only as we begin each new year, but throughout the course of each year as we share stories of success, kindness and dedication to community.
Please help us recognize those who deserve it by submitting nominations to editor@newslj.com or circulation@newslj.com, or bring your nomination to the office at 14 W. Main St. in Newcastle. Please include your name and phone number along with your POY nomination. Tell us how this person has impacted your life, and why they are deserving of the nomination.
We’d love to hear from you!
