Newslj.com offers you more
The News Letter Journal’s online presence continues to grow, and while we intend to keep offering the print product you’ve always enjoyed, a decrease in advertising means that the weekly NLJ will become smaller as time rolls on.
The economics of our business dictate we decrease the number of pages we print each week because rising printing and postage costs limit the amount of space we can offer in print and decrease the reach of the weekly newspaper, but we are excited to be able to offer more — for less — to our online customers.
Fortunately, a subscription to our online product will give you more than we’ve ever been able to give you on the printed page alone, including unique access to breaking local news, statewide news, Wyoming Cowboys sports, reports and viewpoints from legislators and other state officials, photo galleries, videos, daily scripture teachings, a weekly survey, our podcast, an email newsletter and so much more.
Most recently, we have updated a longtime print staple — our community calendar — to be more in-depth and interactive online, and we want to encourage our readers to check it out. You can even start submitting your own entries so we can share even more events — with residents and visitors alike!
To access our Community Calendar, simply scan this QR code, and scroll through a comprehensive calendar of community events for the upcoming week … and beyond. In addition to the date and time that you’ll find in the printed edition of the NLJ each week, our online calendar also provides some details and event descriptions that we don’t have room for in the newspaper.
Perhaps most exciting of all is that our new online calendar allows you to submit your own meeting, gathering or event and we will post it to the calendar free of charge! At the top of each page of our online calendar, it says “Click Here to Submit an Event to the Community Calendar” and it really is just that easy. You’ll be taken to an online form where you will provide us with the information for the event (including a photo or logo if you’ve got one) and we will let the whole world know!
We believe that our mission to provide you with local information is more important than it has ever been, and we still believe the permanence of the weekly News Letter Journal is vitally important for the purpose of creating, sharing and preserving the story of our community.
But we believe it is more important than ever for you to not only pick up your print edition of the News Letter Journal, but to invest a few dollars in getting an online subscription as well.
You will find more online than we were ever able to provide in our printed product, from stories on statewide issues that matter to everyone in Wyoming, a wealth of pictures we simply can’t reproduce as well (or as often) in print, a “good to know” section that provides information from multiple sources — including government agencies, access to all of the public notices published in Wyoming and Weston County’s most comprehensive business directory..
Perhaps the most significant benefit to grabbing an online subscription to the NLJ is the fact that waiting for your printed copy of the newspaper as a result of printing or postage delays won’t be much of factor when you can just pull out your phone or tablet and read our e-edition — regardless of rain, sleet or snow!
We know that many of our print readers aren’t yet comfortable with navigating the world-wide web or finding information on their phones, but we would be glad to show you the ropes if you add an online subscription when you stop in to pick up your weekly NLJ on Wednesday or Thursday afternoon. We also plan to launch a few online tutorials on our YouTube Channel to help our loyal newspaper readers take advantage of our website and all it has to offer. Be sure to subscribe to that channel — for free — and you will receive updates whenever new videos are posted.
We can’t wait to see you online!
