Mom jeans of the future

The other day one of my mommy friends and I found ourselves discussing leggings and the ongoing online debate over whether the article of clothing is in fact a pant or not.
My opinion – not only are leggings pants, but they are the mom jeans of the future.
Mom jeans are something I remember from the ’90s that featured baggy denim-like material with an elastic waistband. I could never see myself wearing these, in my opinion, horrible articles of clothing, although I am very much into the mom years of my life.
Instead, I find myself gravitating towards the confrontational leggings. The simple article of clothing, although they can display some pretty outrageous designs, offer everything the mom jeans of the ’80s and ’90s had to offer, without the sacrifice to fashion.
Now, I wear leggings nearly every day and have come to enjoy the comfort and flexibility they offer. You can dress them up with a cute dress and some nice boots or keep them casual with a solid colored tunic and some Ugg-style boots.
My favorite part about them is that I get to wear my pajamas all day every day. Nothing is more comfortable when running from interview to interview, back to work, to swimming practice, and back home. While making dinner, bathing the kids and relaxing on the couch, my trusty leggings are there.
They provide a quick option on those mornings when I wake up with not nearly enough time to feed the kids a nutritious breakfast while picking out a suitable outfit for the day. Leggings and a tunic are always appropriate, at least in my opinion.
So to those of you who may not consider leggings a real pair of pants, I say find me another article of clothing that is as comfortable and flexible, something that fits into fashion and allows me to feel like I am at least grasping a small portion of my youth. Leggings are the mom jeans of the future! I see them being embraced by moms of every background and in every walk of life for years to come.
You can all look forward to seeing them on a mom near you, whether it is in the store, on the street, at your son’s basketball game or walking the halls at your child’s school, leggings will be there and they are here to stay.
