Northeastern Wyoming will be well represented in the Washington office of U.S. Sen.-elect Cynthis Lummis. On Dec. 14 in a press release, Lummis announced her senior staff, which includes outgoing, state Rep. Tyler Lindholm (R-Sundance) and Newcastle native Darrin Munoz.
“Northeastern Wyoming has been particularly hard hit over the last several years, with staggering dips in energy prices and a war on fossil fuels waged by east-coast elites who seem to be clueless about what keeps the lights on,” said Lummis in the release. “Having strong representation from this corner of the state in my office was a top priority. Darrin brings decades of experience advocating for Wyoming’s energy resources in Washington. He comes from a family of Wyoming mines and understands the very real challenges they and our communities face. Tyler has been a fierce champion for rural economies across the state as well as our ag and ranching community. He will help ensure that policy is driven from the ground up and with significant input from the people I am so fortunate to represent.”
Lindholm will work with Lummis from his home in Sundance, serving as her state policy director. According to Lindholm, Lummis had approached him about working with her organization and staff for Wyoming.
“We talked about different ideas, as far as what she could accomplish,” Lindholm said. “I was fairly blunt with her, and something she understands coming from a state legislator, as a former state treasurer, is that there are a lot of really great ideas to move forward for economic development, but there comes a road block from the federal government.”
He said that her excitement about what she wants to accomplish while serving in Washington is what did it for him.
“It clicked for us. We have a shared passion, and she has the experience to make it happen and the opportunity to deliver the ideas,” Lindholm said. “She is going to flip D.C. over on its head for Wyoming.”
Lindholm said he is just excited as Lummis.
“She is raring and charging to go. She is 100% laser focused on being able to go into that Senate and be one of the 100 and stand out,” Lindholm said.
Munoz on the other hand will be working with Lummis on the battle front in Washington. According to the press release, Munoz will serve as Lummis’ legislative director.
“He is a seasoned navigator of the federal legislative process, with particular expertise in energy and environmental policy,” the release says. “He joins the senator-elect’s office from the private sector where he has advocated for our nation’s natural resources and worked closely with federal agencies, including the Department of Interior and the Environmental Protection Agency. Munoz has previously worked on policy for U.S. Senators Mike Enzi and John Barrasso as well as former Congressman Denny Rehberg.”
