Lies Fade, What is of God Cannot Be Stopped
Shortly after Christ’s resurrection and ascension, the apostles faced tremendous opposition as they preached the gospel of Jesus. The religious leaders were infuriated by their teachings and sought to silence them. In Acts 5:33-39, we see this intense opposition as the apostles were arrested and brought before the Sanhedrin. The high priest charged them with defying the authorities by teaching in Jesus' name. Yet, a Pharisee named Gamaliel offered wise counsel, saying, “If this plan or action is of men, it will be overthrown; but if it is of God, you will not be able to overthrow them; or else you may even be found fighting against God” (Acts 5:38-39).
His words hold true today. The gospel message that the apostles preached has spread across the world for over 2,000 years. Despite opposition, persecution, and countless attempts to stop it, the good news of Jesus continues to transform lives. What started with a small group of believers has now reached every corner of the earth, carried by the power of God.
Gamaliel’s wisdom reminds us that anything man-made will ultimately fail, but what is from God will endure forever. As Isaiah 40:8 states, “The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever.” Similarly, Psalm 33:11 declares, “The counsel of the Lord stands forever, The plans of His heart from generation to generation.” This highlights that while human plans may change, God's plans are steadfast and unchanging.
Even as Jesus said in Matthew 24:35, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away.” These verses emphasize that human things are temporary, but God's Word remains forever. Proverbs 19:21 reinforces this truth: “Many plans are in a man’s heart, But the counsel of the Lord will stand.”
No force, no opposition, not even the powers of darkness can stop what God has established. We are witnesses to this truth as we continue to carry out the mission Christ gave to His followers, knowing that His church is still here today and will endure forever.
