Luke 11:9 — “So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.”

Jesus gave this invitation to His disciples, but it reaches far beyond that moment. It’s for all believers. It’s for anyone who wants to grow in faith and know God better. These are simple words, but they carry deep meaning. He’s telling us to come to God. He’s asking us to trust Him. He’s showing us that God is near and ready to respond.

Jesus starts with the word “ask.” That tells me God wants to hear from us. He’s not far off or too busy. He listens. Jesus says, “Ask, and it will be given to you.” He’s inviting us to bring our needs, our worries, and even our wants to the Father. Prayer isn’t a last resort—it’s our first response. It’s how we talk to the One who already knows, but still wants us to come. Asking takes faith. It means we trust that God hears us, and that He’ll answer in His perfect way.

Then Jesus says, “Seek, and you will find.” That goes deeper than just asking. Seeking means we’re looking for something. We’re searching. It means we want more than just a quick fix—we want to know God. Seeking happens when we open our Bibles and dig in. When we pray not just for things, but for wisdom. When we live each day trying to walk in His will. Jesus wants us to seek Him, not just for what He can give, but for who He is.

Last, He says, “Knock, and it will be opened to you.” Knocking means we don’t give up. We don’t stop after one prayer or one try. We stay at the door. We keep knocking. This is about persistence. About staying in prayer. About not walking away when we don’t see an answer right away. Jesus is saying, “Keep coming. Don’t stop. The door will open.” And when it does, we’re not just getting a blessing—we’re stepping into God’s presence.

Jesus doesn’t just tell us to do these things. He promises a response. “It will be given… you will find… it will be opened.” That’s not just a possibility—that’s a guarantee. When we come to God with sincere hearts, He moves. He listens. He responds. Maybe not always the way we expect, but always for our good.

Luke 11:9 is more than a verse—it’s a way of life. It’s a picture of what a real relationship with God looks like. A life where we ask, seek, and knock. A life that’s full of faith, trust, and persistence. A life that’s open to the voice and will of our Father in Heaven.

He’s not hiding. He’s not holding back. He’s inviting. Let’s be the ones who take Him up on it.
