Future farmers contribute to ag
It’s National FFA week. This week we proudly highlight our Future Farmers of America and celebrate their accomplishments.
The National FFA Organization’s mission is to provide students with a platform on which they can continue to grow within our communities as well as personally develop leadership skills and provide necessary career skills through agriculture education.
The organization is very important to Wyoming as we live in a state with a strong agricultural economy. These students are preparing to continue the growth within our communities and provide for our state through their present work.
Wyoming FFA State Officers Team joined the FBLA, DECA, FCCLA, and SkillsUSA representatives in Cheyenne on February 10 to celebrate National and Wyoming Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month. Among the officers were also state legislators, government officials, and industry representatives.
With CTE being the topic of the meeting, students listened to speakers educate everyone on the importance of CTE. This type of education will further benefit not only our students, but also our communities by providing the skills and knowledge to each individual to continue to provide for their families and communities. This is through creating successful businesses, ranches and relationships within each community.
This education seems to fall short in larger communities with students choosing not to participate in FFA. The knowledge that your local FFA chapter can provide to your students is unmatched when covering the importance of agriculture within our state along with becoming a successful member of society. It would be in our best interest to continue to encourage our students to participate in these programs and to strive to gain the knowledge of different trades.
