The host teams delivered a dominant showing at the 2025 NHS Quad on Tuesday, with both the Newcastle High School girls and boys track and field squads capturing overall team titles in decisive fashion. The girls posted 181 points to lead the field, while the boys ran away with the victory behind an impressive 260-point performance.
For the Lady Dogies, sophomore Adalyn Olson was the star of the show, collecting wins in the 100-meter dash (13.01), 100-meter hurdles (16.20), and long jump (16-11.5), while also anchoring the 4x100 relay team to victory. Olson’s 30-point contribution paced a Newcastle girls squad that saw contributions across the board. Junior Aspyn Archer added a win in the high jump and scored in three other events, while senior Sydney Pederson earned top-two finishes in both the shot put and discus.
On the boys’ side, junior Dane Crabtree powered the Dogies with individual victories in the 100-meter dash, 400-meter dash, and long jump. He also added a fourth-place finish in the 200, helping Newcastle dominate the sprints. Senior Aiden Butler was a force in the field, sweeping the shot put and discus throws and adding key points in the hurdles and relays. Freshman Landen Hill showed strong potential, winning the 800 and tying for first in the high jump.
Individual Standouts Shine Across Schools
While Newcastle led the team standings, standout performances came from athletes across all schools. Sundance’s Jaylin Mills dominated the throwing events with wins in both the shot put (32-08.00) and discus (111-02), while teammate Jake Schommer of Sundance cleared 6-00 to win the boys' high jump and added a victory in the 110-meter hurdles. Upton’s Maddie Mills cruised to a win in the girls’ 800 and also claimed the triple jump title with a leap of 31-09.00.
Sundance’s Halyn Cooney clocked a strong 1:02.57 in the 400-meter dash to grab gold, and Hulett’s Haydon Ritchie won the boys' 3200 with a time of 11:38.29.
