LARAMIE, Wyo. (7/25/24) – University of Wyoming swimming and diving head coach Dave Denniston announced the 2024-25 schedule Thursday. The Cowboys and Cowgirls are set to compete in a slate of duals, tri-meets and invitationals to prepare UW for the championship portion of its schedule.

“We’re going to have a lot of good racing opportunities,” Denniston said. “There’s a couple new ones for us, we’re going to Air Force at the beginning of October for an invite meet with a lot of Mountain West and WAC schools. That’ll be our first introduction to our competition for the year in the two conferences.”

The 2024-25 season will begin again at the Horsetooth Open Water Swim on Sept. 8. The annual Brown & Gold Meet followed by the Brown, Gold & Old Meet takes place Sept. 13 and 14.

The regular season includes home dual meets against Air Force (Nov. 2) and Denver (Jan. 11). The Cowgirls will also host New Mexico at home on Oct. 19. Prior to winter break, the Pokes will travel to the AFA Front Range Invite, Colorado Mesa Invite and the UNLV Invite.

“The big one we’re gearing up for will be Nov. 2 against Air Force with the men and women over at Laramie High School,” Denniston said. “We’re wanting to get a lot of people to turn out for that one, it’s a great rivalry for both our men and women.”

The divers will compete in a diving only meet at the SMU Invite Nov. 20-23 at the same time the swimmers are at the Colorado Mesa Invite. Four dual meets will conclude the regular season, including an outreach meet versus Utah in Green River on Jan. 31.

“One of our outreach events that we’re really excited about is in Green River, Wyoming, and Utah is going to meet us there,” Denniston said. “We did this meet last year where it was just the men. This year the women are going to race as well, so that will be pretty fun. After that meet, we’ll go up to conference and get ready for NCAAs.”

The postseason begins with the Cowgirls traveling to the Mountain West Conference Championships in Houston, Texas, from Feb. 19-22. The Cowboys’ postseason begins at the Western Athletic Conference Championships, also in Houston, from Feb. 26-March 1.

The NCAA Zone “E” Diving Championships span March 19-21 at a location that has yet to be determined. The NCAA Women’s and Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships are in Federal Way, Washington, from March 19-21 and March 26-29, respectively.
