Cynor and Palmer Showcase Talent at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials
INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana (6/16/24) – With the largest swim crowd ever assembled on hand, Steamboat was on display. Whether it was proudly stamped in gold on the side of a black swim cap or painted in brown on a towel draped over a shoulder, the University of Wyoming’s logo was hard to miss Sunday inside Lucas Oil Stadium.
It was here, at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials, that Carly Palmer and Quinn Cynor put on for their school. Palmer in the 100-meter breaststroke and Cynor in the 200-meter freestyle.
They each swam alongside the very best that this world has to offer. And they both acquitted themselves well.
Cynor placed 51st in the 200 free, clocking in at 1:51.38. Palmer took 70th in the 100 breaststroke, boasting a time of 1:11.75.
For Palmer, it’s likely the end to an applaud-worthy career. The Trials were a reward for a swimmer that wouldn’t quit, earning her cut to the distinguished meet inside a football stadium at the very last possible moment.
For Cynor, it’s a jumping off point. Following a season where he captured his second Western Athletic Conference title in as many years, he has one season of eligibility left and will look to use the experience in Indiana as rocket fuel in 2024-25.
