Charlotte Lucille Taylor, 96, passed away Thursday, Dec. 20, 2018, at Weston County Manor in Newcastle, Wyo.
Charlotte “Dolly” was born March 26, 1922, to Russell and Sarah Olmstead of Carthage, S.D. She was married to William Taylor June 3, 1939, in Carthage where they lived and farmed until moving with their young family to Newcastle in 1950. Charlotte and Bill relocated to Missoula, Mont., in 1968 and spent many happy years on their little “ranch” in the Bitter Root River Valley until returning to Newcastle in 1993.
Charlotte was a devoted and loving wife and mother. She had a life-long love of music and sang in many church choirs. She enjoyed camping, gardening, and baking with Bill, embroidery work and especially enjoyed time spent with family.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years; her infant son, William; her parents; three brothers; three sisters; and her son-in-law, Gene Elfstrom.
She is survived by daughters, Lynda (Bill) Russell and Sandra Elfstrom; sons, Jay and David (Beverly Bennett) Taylor; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Dec. 29 at 2 p.m. at Christ The King Lutheran Church in Newcastle, where she was a member for many years. Pastor Tsena Dinssa will officiate. Committal services will be held at Black Hills National Cemetery at a later date.
