PAM SOMMARS
PAM SOMMARS
Feb. 25, 1962–Dec. 29, 2021
Pamela Ann was born Feb. 25, 1962. She was raised on a dairy farm near Byers, Colo., then moved to Verndale, Minn.
She loved helping people and animals. She began riding horses at a very young age and spent her whole life riding and showing horses. She was the founder of “Riding for the Cure,” an equestrian breast cancer awareness group that performed in many rodeos and parades.
Her greatest love was for her family: Her parents, Mike and Patsy Lofing of Newcastle, Wyo., and her dad, Don Keen of Verndale, and husband, Larry Sommars of Verndale. She raised two daughters, Heidi and Jamie, but her greatest joy was her five grandchildren.
Pam and her family lived in Newcastle in the 1990s where she worked at the Old Mill and managed the Sundowner Motel. Jamie and Heidi went to Newcastle High School.
Pam went home to be with our Lord on Dec. 29, 2021.
She is survived by her parents, Mike and Patsy Lofing; her husband, Larry; her daughters, Heidi Cypher of Verndale, and Jamie (Kelley) Lambert of Fargo, N.D.; five wonderful grandchildren, Shyanne, Evelynn, Daphnie, Shaydon, and Zachariah; and her brother, Delmar Keen, and sister, Demah (Earl) Belden, both of Newcastle. She was a wonderful aunt to Jeff (Chrisondra) Kern of Gillette, Wyo., Tonia (Shawn) Ralls of Newcastle, Temah (TJ) Alleman of Waitsburg, Wash., and Jessica Jeffress of Gillette; and great-aunt of 10 nieces and nephews. She was a dear friend to many, and a stranger to no one.
Pam lived by these words: “If you are happy today, share the Lord. If you are sad, find strength in God, and remember that He is always in your heart. See ‘ya later.”
