CHARLES CHUCK RICHARD GORDON

Nov. 26, 1957–Jan. 31, 2024

 

Charles “Chuck” Richard Gordon of Spicewood, Texas, was born on Nov. 26, 1957, in Deadwood, South Dakota, to Richard and Grace (Benishek) Gordon. Chuck was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Deadwood.

 

He passed away on Jan. 31, 2024, in Temple, Texas from complications from an aneurysm repair and stroke.

 

Chuck went to elementary school and junior high school in Deadwood, and graduated from Lead High School in 1976. Chuck was an avid swimmer from age 6 through college. In addition, he participated in football and basketball in high school. 

 

Chuck was united in marriage to Paula Gordon of Newcastle, Wyoming, on Jan. 2, 1982, in Deadwood. He was a loving father and grandfather to his three children, Maria Alejandra Thomas (Ali), Andres Sebastian Gordon and Christopher Charles Gordon, and his four grandchildren, Elijah Thomas, Charlie Thomas, Carter Gordon and Ze Shaun Thomas. 

 

Chuck received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of South Dakota in May 1980 and a Master of Business Administration with Distinction from Wake Forest University in May of 1984.

 

Chuck’s career consisted of:

• 1984-1990: BF Goodrich

• 1990-1993: Arrowhead Industrial Water

• 1993-2003: US Filter Corporation, Vivendi, Veolia

• 2003-2005: Executive Vice President of Siemens Water and Wastewater Services and Products

• 2005-2008: Executive Vice President of Siemens Water and Wastewater Systems Group

• 2008-2010: President and CEO of Siemens Water Technologies

• 2010-2013: Heckmann Corporation

• 2009-2021: Member of the Board of Aegion Corporation

• 2014-2021: President and CEO of Aegion Corporation

 

Chuck retired in 2021 and quickly settled into retirement boating, fishing, biking, golfing and watching his grandchildren in their activities. Chuck’s competitive nature drove him in to compete on his Peloton, New York Times daily crossword puzzles, and all his numerous athletic activities.

 

Chuck is survived by his wife, Paula; his three children, Maria, Sebastian and Christopher; his two in-law children, Juliet Hoey and Brice Thomas; his four grandchildren, Elijah, Charlie, Carter and Ze Shaun; his sister, Jill (Jim); brother, Rob (Michelle), brother-in-law, Bob (Jan) Graham; and several nieces and nephews.

 

Chuck is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Grace Gordon; grandparents, Harley and Josephine Gordon and Charles and Pauline Benishek; father- and mother-in-law, Paul and Tiny Graham; and his brother-in-law, Tommy Graham.
