Connie Smith
Dear Editor,
My dad went to work for Helen Smith in the late 1950s. We lived in the house where Helen had lived with Connie and young Nels prior to Connie’s disappearance. Helen and Nels lived in the new house that had been built since that time. Helen kept Connie’s room just as it was the last time she was in it and kept the door locked. Occasionally, Helen would spend an hour or so in Connie’s room. It is impossible to imagine the grief she endured, never knowing what happened to her little girl, and for Nels to suddenly lose his sister but never know why. This case has always haunted me, that a kind woman like Helen had to suffer like she did and I hope they do get answers some day.
