Assistant principal pleads not guilty to sexual assault
SHERIDAN (WNE) — Sheridan High School Virtual Learning Assistant Principal Jacob Meyer pleaded not guilty to second degree sexual assault in 4th Judicial District Court Tuesday.
Sexual assault in the second degree is a felony punishable by imprisonment of between two and 20 years and/or a fine of $20,000.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on May 4, Sheridan High School Principal Scott Cleland notified Sheridan Police Department of an alleged sexual relationship between Meyer and a student.
According to court documents, the 33-year-old allegedly “had interaction with a victim who is a student or participant in the activities of the school and…did unlawfully inflict sexual intrusion on that victim.”
Meyer was arrested by the Sheridan Police Department May 6.
In a statement to The Sheridan Press, Sheridan County School District 2 Superintendent Scott Stults said the district acted immediately once it became aware of the alleged sexual assault. According to the May 17 personnel action report, the board approved the termination of Meyer from the role of assistant principal at SHS, effective immediately.
Meyer posted bond, which was changed to a $20,000 cash surety. He is currently being monitored by Freedom Fighters Bail Bonds with an ankle monitor.
