The Newcastle/Upton wrestling team is proud to welcome the 3A East to the Dogie Dome for the 2021-2022 Regional Wrestling Tournament on Friday, Feb. 18.
The 3A East teams who will be on hand for the tournament include Buffalo, Burns/Pine Bluffs, Douglas, Newcastle/Upton, Rawlins, Torrington, Wheatland and Worland. Weigh-ins, along with the seeding and all-conference meetings, will begin at 10 a.m. with wrestling action starting at 11:30. Cost of admission is $9 for adults and $6 for students for a full day pass.
Each of the teams expected to compete are as follows.
Buffalo: On the roster for the Bison are Zander Tass, Troy Moe, Ruben Cleveland, Sam Hulick, Teila Peters, AJ Ramirez, Aidan Myers, Lance Rabel, Adam McCorkle, Michael Tomich, Ben Camino, Miles Packard, Adrian Archer, Hazen Camino, Colson Myers, Brenton Ross, Joe Connors and Delton Briscoe.
Sophomore Hazen Comino comes into the tournament ranked fifth in the state in the 160 pound weight class.
Burns/Pine Bluffs: On the roster are Tanner Long, Sage Long, Colby Smith, Riley McLaughlin, Baylen Smith, De’Drick Nichols, Gavin Holmes, Tripp Dunnam, Logan Stockton, Conor Manlove, Logan Branigan, Elliot Anderson, Clay James, Colter Haws, Eli James, D.C. Cathcart, Jaspur Nusbaum, Beckett Cassel, Cooper Sanchez, Jacob Jackson, Tagr Holmes, Luis Martinz, Bryce Humphrey, Brandon Winslow, Cale Haws, Jack Archer, Cody Winslow, Michael Stoneking, Blair Sanchez, Tyler Christofferson, Carlyle McGinnis-Sparks, and Jasons Ixcoy.
Junior Braylen Smith comes into the tournament ranked seventh at 126, senior Logan Branigan is ranked fifth at 145, senior Conor Manlove enjoys the seventh place ranking at 152, senior Colter Haws is ranked third at 195, and senior Cody Winslow is fifth ranked at Heavyweight.
Douglas: On the roster for the Bearcats are Caeden Robertson, Hesston Haskins, Luke Ewing, Ivan Diaz, Gordon Courdret, Keltan Ewing, Nolan Smith, Hunter McReynolds, Edgar Sosa, Andrew Gifford, Andres Sosa, Jack Burell Worthington, Tanner Johnson, Grant Igo, Shane Wolfe, Jayden Archuleta, Weston Needham, Lane Ewing, Gage Iblerlin, Gabe Lopez, Christian Johnson, Kyle Logar, Kael Matthews, Kenai Bergquist, TK Stinson, Carter Archuleta, Koby Case, Rylan Wehr and Kolby Parker.
The Bearcats, as a team, are currently ranked second among the 3A teams in the state, and several members of the team are also ranked individually.
Sophomore Tanner Johnson is the number one ranked wrestler at 106, sophomore Luke Ewing is ranked fourth at 132, junior Christian Johnson is the sixth ranked wrestler at 138, senior Rylan Wehr is ranked second at 145, senior Keltan Ewing enjoys the number one ranking at 152, junior Lane Ewing is also ranked first at 160, senior Koby Case is fifth at 170, senior Kael Matthews is third at 182, junior TK Stinson is fourth and junior Kenai Bergquist seventh at 195, freshman Carter Archuleta is ranked fourth at 220, and seniors Kyle Logar and Kolby Parker are ranked first and fourth respectively at Heavyweight.
Newcastle/Upton: On the roster for the Dogies/Bobcats are Haven Vrana, Kyah Miller, Jackson East, Cael Holmes, Johnny Carlson, Thomas Prell, Scott Larson, Aidan Coberly, Walker Simianer, Jacob Prell, Josh Womack and Heath Henkle.
Senior Josh Womack is ranked third at 220.
Rawlins: On the roster for the Outlaws are Aaron Cunningham, Conner Red, Adrian Trujillo, Sage Lonn, Joe Haught, Lucas Phipps, Braxton Steiner, Seth Wazelle, Ethan Burke, Koala Medicine Bull, Duke Nash, Eric Gufstason, Zachary Covolo, Zack Funk, Ezra Archuleta, Garrett Parker, Diego Buckingham, Sam Cooke, Josh Smith, Blayne Coleman, Julian Gonzalez, Brayden Torstenbo, Jaiden Martinez, Brinley Green and Dan Hodge.
Rawlins is ranked sixth as a team and also has several on their roster among the top ranked individual wrestlers in the state.
Sophomore Adrian Trujillo is ranked third at 106, freshman Brayden Torstenbo is second at 120, sophomore Zach Covolo is fourth and sophomore Sage Lonn is fifth at 126, Blayne Coleman is second at 132, sophomore Ezra Archuleta is fourth at 152, junior Josh Smith is sixth at 170 and senior Garrett Parker is ranked first at 220.
Torrington: On the roster for the Trailblazers are Michael Sandusky, Reece Grubbs, Bryce Hager, Nathan Hellus, Kaden Romig, Hunter Massie, Barrett Eichenberger, Tyler Nicolay, Landon Emigh, Gryphon Wolfe, Sam Birdsall, and Bryan Gracia-Hernandez.
Wheatland: On the roster for the Bulldogs are Coy Montgomery, Chloe Palmer, Caden Davis, Waylon Milnes, Rylee Coates, Quincy Palmer, Mauriccio Grimaldo, Brayden Guffey, Hayden Hocker, Jay Downes, Lorenzo Rojo, Jazlynne Gonzalez, Devin Weber, Maxx Meyer, Wyatt Fitzwater, Luke Redding, Sasha Jackson, Barak Bertoch, and Jake Hicks.
Senior Devin Weber is ranked second at 138 and senior Jake Hicks is ranked second at 152.
