You Don’t Have to Stay Lukewarm

News Letter Journal - Staff Photo - Create Article
Many believers live lukewarm lives without even realizing it. This heartfelt reflection walks through the quiet pull of God, how He brings us back, and how everything changes when we truly seek Him with all our heart.

There are a lot of people out there who are living lukewarm lives—and they don’t even know it. I know, because I was one of them.

I gave my life to Christ over 50 years ago. But no one really taught me how to draw close to God. I learned a few things here and there, picked up bits of theology, but not the truth that changes you. Not the kind that sets your heart on fire.

So I stumbled. I drifted. I lived many years as a believer, but not one who was walking in step with God. I was lukewarm, just going through the motions. And I didn’t even know it.

Then something happened. It wasn’t dramatic. It wasn’t loud. But I knew it was God.

He touched my heart—and He softened it.

That’s when I knew He was pulling me back.

I dug out my Bible, and this time I didn’t just read it. I studied. I questioned. I learned. I didn’t turn to a commentary—I just read my Bible and asked the Holy Spirit to teach me. And He did.

“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and remind you of all that I said to you.” (John 14:26)

The words on the page started to come alive. I started to see what I had missed. I started writing, not for anyone else—just pages and pages of thoughts, studies, truth. It was like the floodgates opened. I wasn’t just reading anymore—I was being changed.

And here’s what I learned…

You don’t have to stay lukewarm.

But you’ll never change if you don’t realize what’s missing.

God’s not hiding from you. He wants you to know Him. He wants you to walk with Him. But you have to seek Him—not through tradition or feelings—but through His Word and His Spirit.

“Your ears will hear a word behind you, ‘This is the way, walk in it,’ whenever you turn to the right or to the left.” (Isaiah 30:21)

This means the Holy Spirit is right there with you giving you instructions, if you listen you will hear. Then you begin to realize that God's guidance doesn't come through loud declarations, but through gentle direction — a steady hand leading you into truth.

“I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go; I will advise you with My eye upon you.” (Psalm 32:8)

This isn’t all about head knowledge. It’s also about changing your heart.
It’s about walking out of lukewarm living and into the fire of His truth.
And once you do… everything will change!

You can do this as well — just go to Him.

“And you will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:13)

You don’t have to stay lukewarm. He’s waiting—and He’s ready to set your heart on fire.
