LARAMIE, Wyo. (2/5/25) – The University of Wyoming swim team will be sending a group of athletes to compete at the DU First Chance Meet Friday through Saturday.

Friday’s action will begin at 3 p.m. while Saturday’s events will kick off at 10 a.m. in Denver, Colo. at DU’s El Pomar Natatorium.

The group of swimmers competing at the DU First Chance Meet will be comprised of athletes who will not be traveling to the conference championships later this month.

“It’s a chance for people we aren’t able to take to the conference championships to still swim fast in a college meet,” head coach Dave Denniston said. “There’s going to be a lot of teams there from Denver, Northern Colorado and Air Force. It will be a legitimate, good college competition where they’ll get to see how fast they can go. I expect to see some really great things from the people in that group. There’s some freshman and sophomores who made a lot of progress this year, like Chayse Schierkolk from Casper and Skye Rehard from Gillette. We have quite a few Wyoming kids that are going to be able to show some best times and that’s one of the things we’re looking forward to; putting all the work in that you have and getting an opportunity to see how fast you can go.”

The meet will be livestreamed at the link here.

Following the DU First Chance Meet, the Cowgirls will head to the Mountain West Conference Championships in Houston, Texas, on Feb. 19-22. The Cowboys will take on the WAC Championships the following week, Feb. 26 – Mar. 1, in Houston as well.
