Hans Hunt
It has been a great honor to serve as the state representative for Newcastle these past four terms. I again humbly ask for your vote for representative to House District 2 so that I can continue to serve the citizens of Weston, Niobrara, and Goshen counties.
Since becoming the chairman of the House Agriculture, Water, and Public Lands committee last year, I have been closely involved with important issues that the committee has taken up. Some of these issues include the swapping of state land that are isolated by surrounding federal lands, consideration of recreational use fees on state lands, and looking at legislation to allow owners of water rights to partake in water banking, which would allow for Wyoming’s water to be saved up to be used in dryer years. I also currently serve as the chairman of the Select Water Committee, which oversees the funding allocations for all state water development projects.
Furthermore, if reelected, I hope to work on campaign reform issues in the coming 2019 session. As the primary elections revealed, there are many election-related statutes which need to be looked at. These include a change to closed primary voting which would restrict the switching of party registration near election day, as well as tightening up residency requirements for both local and state level candidates.
