UW will compete in impressive 21-team field at AK Chin Southern Dunes GC

MARICOPA, Ariz. – The Wyoming women's golf team will host the annual Cowgirl Classic this Tuesday and Wednesday at AK Chin Southern Dunes GC.

The Cowgirls will compete against 20 other teams on the challenging par-72, 6,196-yard course, including No. 22 Iowa State, the reigning Cowgirl Classic champion.

The rest of the field is made up of Arizona State, Boise State, BYU, Eastern Washington, Fresno State, Gonzaga, Grand Canyon, Long Beach State, Nevada, New Mexico State, Oral Roberts University, Sacramento State, Santa Clara, Southern Utah, UC Riverside, Montana, New Mexico, UNLV and UTEP.

"We always look forward to working with professional staff at a championship property while hosting at AK Chin Southern Dunes," UW head coach Josey Stender said. "Our tournament has grown in popularity, and we have one of the most competitive fields we have seen in years. This is also an event where we will see the majority of our conference opponents before the Mountain West Championships in a few weeks."

Senior Meghan Vogt, junior Elle Higgins, sophomores Kira Reisner and Emerson Purcell and freshman Kiley Reisner will be in UW's starting lineup. Senior Sophie Spiva, sophomore Erika Cook and freshman Ellie Barry will play as individuals.

Kiley Reisner, who won the individual trophy at the Thunderbird Classic last month in St. George, Utah, finished 21st at the recent Silicon Valley Showcase to lead UW. She was named the MW freshman of the month in September and also the conference's player of the week after her performance at the Thunderbird Classic.

"This spring has featured a lot of very positive individual achievements," Stender said. "As we get into the final third of our season we are looking to have a complete and competitive event as a team from start to finish."

The first two rounds will be played Tuesday with the final round on Wednesday. Fans can track the results here: 2026 Cowgirl Classic
