Wyoming Set for 2025 Mountain West Indoor Track & Field Championships

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (February 26, 2025) – The University of Wyoming track and field program is primed to compete at the Credit Union 1 Mountain West Indoor Track and Field Championships, Thursday, Feb. 27 to Saturday, March 1, at the Albuquerque Convention Center in Albuquerque, N.M. The championship marks the 10th year the indoor championships are held in Albuquerque.

Action on Thursday and Friday begins at 10 a.m. while Saturday kicks off at 9:30 a.m. Awards will be given out to Top-3 finishers immediately following the completion of each event.

Mountain West Network

At last year’s Mountain West Indoor Championships, the men finished sixth as a team with 61.5 points after 13 finals appearances. Four Cowboys, Kareem Mersal, Daniel Reynolds, Cam Burkett and Jefferson Danso finished Top-3 in their events, with Mersal and Reynolds sitting atop the podium in first. The women finished tied for 10th with 27 points with two Top-3 finishes. Salma Elbadra claimed the conference title in the mile run while finishing second in the 3,000 meters.

Last Time Out

In the final regular season meets of the season two Cowboys took first, five school Top-10 marks were set and 16 personal bests were recorded across the Don Kirby Invitational and Husky Classic. Senior thrower Daniel Reynolds once again broke the school and Mountain West record and took first in the weight throw with a toss of 81’ 1 1/4” (24.72 meters), good for the No. 4 All-Time NCAA throw while remaining the No. 2 mark this season. Staying in the throwing events, junior thrower Cam Burkett also finished first in the shot put with his mark of 59’ 4 1/4" (18.09 meters). At the time of this posting, the Cowboys hold 22 Top-10 marks in the Mountain West performance lists while the Cowgirls boast six.
