Cam Burkett will compete in his third outdoor First Round in the shot put in three years. He entered as the No. 15 shot putter in the West region with his top mark of 63’ 1 1/4" (19.23 meters) set at the Doug Max Invitational.

Jaheim Ferguson qualified with the No. 30 time in the West with a time of 50.75 at the Mine Kit Mayer Classic. This will be his second West First Round after he also ran in the 2024 season.

Ryker Holtzen will run in his third 3,000-meter steeplechase at a First Round next week. He ran 8:35.70 for fifth at the Stanford Invitational for the No. 11 time in the West.

Charles LaFore is one of two freshmen to make the First Round this season. His hammer throw of 218’ 9” (66.68 meters) earned him the No. 18 qualifying spot. This mark is also the No. 8 U.S. U20 All-Time throw.

Taliah Morris rounds out the Wyoming freshman class in the West Regional. In her first outdoor season, she qualified for three events, finishing in the top 48 in the 100 meters, 200 meters, and long jump. Morris is the only competitor to qualify in all three of these events at the West First Round.

Remar Pitter made his first outdoor First Round after he earned the No. 23 best jump in the country. Pitter is an indoor Second-Team All-American in the long jump after finishing in 15th in the 2024 season.

Daniel Reynolds followed up his indoor weight throw title by qualifying for the hammer throw and shot put in College Station. He has the No. 11 shot put and No. 6 hammer throw marks in the country. Reynolds previously made the outdoor First Round in 2024 in the hammer throw.

Albert Steiner made his fourth NCAA West First Round in the 3,000-meter steeplechase after doing so in the 2024, 2022 and 2021 seasons. He earned the No. 46 qualifying spot heading into next week.

Jacob White, while having a fast enough time to qualify in the 1,500 meters, decided to stick to the 5,000-meter race when he made the Top-48. This is White’s second time qualifying for the 5,000 meters outdoor, doing so last in 2023.

Abigail Whitman just made the cut for the 3,000-meter steeplechase with her time of 10:24.48. This is Whitman’s first NCAA championship track and field meet.
