Wyoming Prepped for Two-Day Colorado Invitational, Jumpers at New Mexico Team Open
BOULDER, Colo. (January 30, 2025) – The University of Wyoming track and field program heads to Boulder, Colo., and Albuquerque, N.M., for the first time this season, for the Colorado Invitational and New Mexico Team Open on Friday and Saturday. Friday in Colorado will start at noon with field events and Saturday at 11 a.m. for running events. In New Mexico, field events begin at 3:30 p.m. on Friday and running events at 3 p.m. on Saturday.

Several jumpers will also be competing at the New Mexico Team Open on the same days as the Colorado Invitational. Their schedule is as follows:

Last Time Out
At last week’s Bobcat Challenge, two Cowboys, senior thrower Daniel Reynolds and junior distance runner Jacob White, broke program records. Reynolds extended his weight throw school and Mountain West record with a throw of 77’ 8.75 (23.69 meters), the No. 6 mark in the nation this season. White now holds the indoor 3,000-meter program record with his time of 7:54.38. This is White’s third school record across cross country and track and field.
Senior Gus McIntyre also made his way up the Top-10 list in the 3,000 meter, landing at No. 3 with a time of 8:00.98. In the women’s 3,000 meter, senior Kylie Simshauser moved up to No. 2 in program history wither time of 9:22.75 at the Bobcat Challenge.
In the mile run, senior Mac Zastrow and sophomore Jake Bach ran into the Top-10 list. Zastrow now holds No. 3 with a time of 4:02.24 while Bach enters at No. 6 with a time of 4:05.13.
Junior sprinter Carter McComb made the Top-10 list in the 60 meter with his time of 6.83, good for No. 10.
In the 400 meter, freshman Bradley Ekstrom ran to a first-place finish and entered the Top-10 program list at No. 8 with his time of 48.42. Ekstrom also got his name in the record book with the help of sophomore Cody Hape, senior Jaheim Ferguson and freshman Logan Brown in the 4x400 meter relay. Their time of 3:15.54 was good for No. 8 in school indoor history.
Overall, Wyoming set 18 personal bests and earned 24 podium finishes, including seven firsts, at the Bobcat Challenge in Bozeman, Mont.
