Wyoming Heads to Reno for NCAA Regional

RENO, Nev. (November 14, 2024) – The University of Wyoming cross country program will travel to Reno, Nev., for the NCAA Mountain Regional hosted by Nevada at the Washoe Golf Course, on Friday. The women will run the 6k at noon MT while the men’s 10k starts at 1 p.m. MT.

Wyoming will compete against Air Force, BYU, Colorado, Colorado State, Montana State, Nevada, New Mexico, New Mexico State, Northern Arizona, Northern Colorado, Utah Southern, Texas Tech, Utah Valley, Utah State, Utah, UTEP and Weber State. Both the men and women will run against each team except for Utah which does not have a men’s program.

The season is on the line as only the Top-2 finishing teams from each regional earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship on Nov. 23, in Madison, Wis. For individuals, the first four regional finishers not from an automatic bid or at-large team also make the championships. All other teams will have to wait and watch the 2024 NCAA Division I Cross Country Selection Show airing on NCAA.com on Saturday, Nov. 16, at 3 p.m. MT. Announced on the show, 13 at-large teams and two individuals will advance to the championship.

Last Time Out

Wyoming finished third in the men’s race and fifth in the women’s at the Mountain West Cross Country Championships, on Nov. 1. Three runners were named to All-Mountain West teams with senior Kylie Simshauser making the first team and junior Jacob White and senior Dylan van der Hock earning second-team honors. Following the meet, the Cowgirls were ranked 10th in the USTFCCCA Mountain Region Poll while the Cowboys were fifth in the region poll and 26th in the National Coaches’ Poll.
