Wyoming Closes Three-Day Bryan Clay Invitational

AZUSA, Calif. (April 18, 2025) – The University of Wyoming track and field program concluded its time in Azusa, Calif., with 7 personal bests and four program Top-10 times at the Bryan Clay Invitational on Saturday.
All results from the Beach Invitational in Long Beach, Calif., will be recapped following the meet’s conclusion on Saturday.
DAY ONE
Day one of the Bryan Clay Invitational saw three personal bests and two Top-10 program times. Wyoming’s action kicked off in the men’s open 3,000-meter Steeplechase. Sophomore Austin Akers finished with a personal-best time of 9:18.83 while senior Albert Steiner crossed the line at 9:22.21.
In the women’s open 3,000-meter Steeplechase, senior Abigail Whitman ran a time of 10:35.50 for 37th. Junior Rozlyn Slichko finished with a personal best of 10:52.27 to move to No. 8 in program history.
Junior Jacob White ran in the men’s 10,000-meter invite and finished 19th in heat one. In his first collegiate 10,000 meters, he ran a time of 28:47.07, the new No. 3 time in school history.
Friday closed with the women’s 10,000-meter invite, in which senior Leah Christians placed 27th in heat two with a time of 35:38.83.
DAY TWO
On day two, action opened up for Wyoming with a personal best in the women’s 5,000 meters. Senior Nina Zraik finished 10th in the Open B section with a time of 16:52.92.
Five Pokes ran in the 800-meter Open, with three setting personal bests and one Top-10 program time. In the women’s 800, freshman Hanan Aldelemy took 13th with a personal-best and No. 10 school time of 2:11.14. Senior Paige Sefried finished with a time of 2:19.81.
On the men’s side, junior Mac Zastrow came in 54th with a personal-best time of 1:53.27 while senior Trevor Stephen ran to 65th with a time of 1:53.67, a personal best. Sophomore Jake Bach ran his 800 meters in 1:56.19.
Junior Libby Berryhill-Worshek ran in the women’s 800-meter invite and finished with a time of 2:12.05.
Cowgirls ran in two heats of the Open A 5,000 meters. In heat one, graduate Marina Trave Ferrer finished 17th with a time of 16:48.65. Senior Abigail Whitman finished with a personal best in heat three of 16:30.29, good for 14th place. This time moves Whitman to No. 5 in program history.
In the men’s Open A 5,000 meters, senior Gus McIntyre ran to 23rd in heat three with a time of 14:09.31 while senior Mason Norman ran in heat four with a time of 14:02.15 for 17th place.
Two ran in the 5,000-meter invite in junior Ryker Holtzen and senior Kylie Simshauser. Holtzen ran in the heat three for the men and finished in 17th with a time of 13:57.93. Simshauser placed 15th in heat four with her time of 16:33.91.
DAY THREE
The third and final day of the meet began with the women’s 1,500 meters Open. In the “C” section, freshman Muriel Jones took first, the only first-place finish in a section for Wyoming, with a time of 4:36.15. In that same section, freshman Reagan Gilman placed 30th, crossing the line at 4:48.12, while junior Brooke Holzworth ran a time of 4:40.03 for 37th.
The 1,500 meters concluded later that evening with the Open “B” and “A” sections. In the “B” section, freshman Hanan Aldelemy took 60th with her time of 4:37.90 and in the “A” section, Berryhill-Worshek ran to 97th with a time of 4:33.59.
In the men’s 400 meters, sophomore Cody Hape came in 14th with a time of 47.95 while freshman Bradley Ekstrom ran to a 21st-place finish at 48.24.
Two Cowboys and four Cowgirls ran in the 400-meter hurdles. For the men, senior Jaheim Ferguson earned ninth place with his time of 53.04 and junior Carson Kaminiski ran to 23rd with his finish of 54.77.
On the women’s side, senior Gabby Drube led Wyoming with another ninth-place finish, crossing the line at 1:00.52. Sophomore Gabbreiella Mendoza-Molina finished with a time of 1:02.28 for 22nd while freshman Lily McDowell ran to 27th with a time of 1:02.52. Senior Jenae Ramirez closed out the event for Wyoming and took 43rd with her time of 1:04.78.
Freshman Megan Witkiewicz was the lone Wyoming finisher in the 200-meter dash. She came in 55th with a time of 25.53.
The Wyoming men’s and women’s teams ran its first 4x400-meter relays in the 2025 outdoor season. The men’s squad of Hape, Wiggins, freshman Logan Brown and Ekstrom finished in seventh with a time of 3:14.10. For the women, their team of Mendoza-Molina, Witkiewicz, McDowell and freshman Eva Dellorco took 10th with a finish of 3:46.29.
To close the meet, three Cowboys ran in the 1,500-meter run. Stephen ran to 74th with a time of 3:50.17, Zastrow took 79th at 3:50.93 and White finished 84th, crossing the line at 3:51.22.
UP NEXT
Wyoming will close its four-day meet week when it competes in day two at the Beach Invitational in Long Beach, Calif., tomorrow. Action will begin with the field events starting at 11 a.m. MT, and the track opening at 11:15 a.m. MT.
