FARGO, North Dakota (1/31/25) – The University of Wyoming wrestling team has pieced together a four-dual win streak. The momentum necessary during that run has been created by consistency, and that was on display again Friday night inside the Scheels Center.

The Pokes won seven bouts and closed with three straight wins en route to a 27-12 victory over North Dakota State. The win pushes the Cowboys to 9-5 on the season and 3-2 in Big 12 action, while the loss drops the Bison to 3-7 overall and 2-3 in league.

“Consistency, we’ve been talking about that a lot, and we are starting to see more consistency throughout the lineup,” head coach Mark Branch said. “Guys are starting to be more consistent with the aggression, with the rides, with the takedowns, and those are the things that are making a difference.”

The first half of the dual Friday tilted back and forth. Garrett Ricks (125) got things started with a 6-2 decision win over Tristan Daugherty, however, the Bison jumped out in front with a technical fall at 133.

No. 18 Cole Brooks (141) earned a bonus-point win of his own, pinning Gideon Cole in just 1:47, which leapfrogged Wyoming back on top. North Dakota State knotted things up with another bonus point win, this time a major decision at 149, that made it, 9-9.

No. 20 Jared Hill (157) swung the pendulum back in favor of the visitors with a 4-3 decision win over No. 33 Max Petersen. Cooper Voorhees followed that up with a 4-1 decision win over Boeden Greenley where he scored the deciding takedown in the final 10 seconds.

No. 33 Eddie Neitenbach (184) and No. 10 Joey Novak (197) clinched the dual win with a pair of bonus-point victories that made the Bison’s victory at 174 a moot point. Neitenback logged a technical fall of Andrew McMonagle, 15-0, and Novak earned a 9-1 major decision over Tayshaun Glover.

Sam Mitchell was the cherry on top Friday. He defeated Drew Blackburn-Forst in sudden victory, 4-1.

Wyoming has a quick turnaround and a tall test on Saturday. The Pokes travel to No. 11 South Dakota State for a 6 p.m. dual inside First Bank & Trust Arena in Brookings.
