LARAMIE, Wyoming (4/24/25) – The University of Wyoming wrestling team was selected to participate in the National Duals Invitational in Tulsa, Oklahoma, from Nov. 15-16. The Cowboys’ selection was via lottery system Thursday afternoon.
The Pokes join a 16-team field consisting of the top teams in the country. The top 12 spots were gained automatically based on the 2025 NCAA Championships team standings. Eleven of those 12 accepted an invitation, as Penn State did not.
The final five spots were randomly drawn from teams that finished 13th-25th. The odds for each squad were based off their finish at NCAAs. Wyoming placed 22nd and thus had three ping pong balls in the cage.
The other four teams that randomly got selected include Little Rock, Arizona State, Lehigh and Missouri. Those teams join the 11 automatic qualifiers of Oklahoma State, NC State, Ohio State, Northern Iowa, Iowa, Michigan, Nebraska, Illinois, Minnesota, Cornell and Virginia Tech.
The bracket-style tournament will be held at the BOK Center. More than $1 million will be awarded to teams. The winning team will earn $200,000, while second and third reel in $150,000 and fourth brings in $75,000. Squads finishing fifth to eighth get anywhere from $20,000-$50,000, and the eight teams that don’t place go home with $20,000.
