LARAMIE, Wyoming (6/19/25) – The University of Wyoming wrestling team will soon have a new practice home. The Cowboys are scheduled to move into their new facility in the John Corbett Building following the 2025-26 season, ahead of the 2026-27 season.

The new space, totaling 13,431 feet, will more than double what the team currently possesses. It’ll also make it one of the largest and finest wrestling-specific facilities in the world.

“This is an incredible testament to how important wrestling is to the state of Wyoming,” head coach Mark Branch said. This facility will be a key factor in our continued success competing in the Big 12, and it will rival any college wrestling facility in the country. Our student-athletes will have the space and ability to train, prepare, stay healthy, and most importantly, compete for NCAA titles.”

The practice space is a total of 9,315 square feet, enough room for over five practice mats.

The new facility is much more than just increased mat space. It will also include locker rooms for both the student-athletes and coaches/support staff, a weight room, a sports medicine recovery and rehab area, a team meeting area/lounge and seating to observe practice.

The new practice home for Wyoming wrestling is proof of the investment in a sport that’s on the rise. The Pokes finished 22nd at the NCAA Championships this past season with Joey Novak (197) earning All-American status with a fifth-place finish. He and his teammates are in for an exciting year that’ll feature multiple home duals against top teams in the country.
