Woman charged with murder in husband’s stabbing death

CHEYENNE (WNE) — A Cheyenne woman who was arrested earlier this month on aggravated assault charges in the stabbing of her husband is now charged with second-degree murder after the victim died from his injuries.
On Jan. 18, at approximately 12:30 p.m., police were dispatched to a report of an assault with a knife that occurred at a residence in the 2700 block of Dey Avenue.
Officers arrived to find the male victim, Brian Blanche, 38, of Cheyenne, with an apparent stab wound. They applied pressure to the injury until medics arrived. The victim later refused transport to the hospital for treatment.
In a news release, Cheyenne police said Blanche had been stabbed in the stomach by his wife, Chantavia Blanche, 24, of Cheyenne, during a verbal argument that escalated.
Chantavia Blanche was arrested and booked into the Laramie County jail on charges of aggravated assault and battery (bodily injury with a deadly weapon).
On Jan. 22, Brian Blanche was declared deceased as a result of complications from the injury, and Cheyenne Police detectives continued the investigation as a homicide. The same day, charges related to the homicide were forwarded to the Laramie County District Attorney’s Office.
Chantavia Blanche has since been arraigned on a second-degree murder charge.
This case remains under investigation by the Cheyenne Police Detective Bureau.
