EVANSTON (WNE) — An 27-year-old Evanston woman, Diseree Zacher, has been charged with two felony counts of interference with a peace officer after trying to drive away while police officers attempting to cite her for trespassing were attached to her vehicle.

On Wednesday, Feb. 19, Evanston Police Department responded to a call from Smith’s Pharmacy in Evanston. According to a court affidavit, Zacher had been trying to fill a prescription for narcotics and was denied.

Officers were asked to trespass Zacher.

Zacher indicated she would not leave until she had spoken with the store manager, the affidavit states. She was told she could but must do so off the property.

Zacher then locked herself inside her Chevy Silverado to call store management, despite the officer informing her to leave the premises.

“[Dispatch] advised officers that Diseree was currently on 911 stating she was being harassed by the officers,” the affidavit states.

Zacher allegedly opened the vehicle window and officers tried to pull her out of the vehicle for trespassing. She then put the vehicle in gear and began driving away while the officer was “leaning into the truck,” though he was pulled out of the vehicle by a backup officer “before he was dragged any significant distance.”

Zacher reportedly sped out of the parking spot at a high rate of speed. She stopped near the electric charging stations in the parking lot, and officers were eventually able to remove her forcibly from the truck as she screamed “police brutality.”

She was arrested and transported to Evanston Regional Hospital for further evaluation before being booked into the Uinta County Jail.  Zacher pleaded not guilty to all charges and a trial is scheduled for July 8.
