Group Includes Signees from Laramie, Wisconsin, and California

LARAMIE, Wyo. (Nov. 14, 2024) – University of Wyoming head men’s basketball coach Sundance Wicks announced the signings of three prep players for the 2025-26 campaign on Wednesday. The group includes a native of Laramie, a standout big from Wisconsin and a versatile guard from California.

“The over-arching theme for this year’s early signing class was to find OKC’s (Our Kinda Cowboys),” Wicks Said. “OKC’s are young men that WANT to be in LARAMIE.  OKC’s are young men that WANT to be COWBOYS.  OKC’s are winners, they are gritty, great teammates, relentlessly competitive, gym rats that understand the reward IS THE WORK and they LOVE the community driven culture that is LARADISE.  There was no doubt that these three young men and THEIR FAMILIES, fit our Cowboy Culture and will carry our culture forward.”

Gavin Gores – Forward – 6-10 – 210 Pound – Cumberland, Wisc. (Cumberland High School)

Gores is rated as a three-start recruit by 247sports.com. He is the 46th ranked power forward in the class and was the sixth ranked recruit in Wisconsin. Gores was an All-State selection last season. He is already Cumberland High School’s all-time leader in scoring. As a junior in a contest against Regis High School, Gores recorded 51 point and 19 rebounds and, in another contest, recorded 47 point and 18 rebounds. This summer, Gores was named All-UA Rise First Team.  He was also recruited by Illinois, Illinois State and North Dakota State.

Wicks on Gores

“I personally believe that one of the hardest players to identify, recruit and land are Unicorn 4’s.  Gavin is a winner, and he is as driven as any player we have ever recruited.  Gavin is that rare breed of size, athleticism, skill, and killer instinct that is almost impossible to find.  At 6’10, he can stretch it, rack it, and feel the game in ways most can’t.  In my opinion he will be a match-up nightmare in the coming years and will create advantages for us in a multitude of ways.   There is no ceiling for Gav.  More importantly, Gavin is a Cowboy!  He actually ropes and rides!   Gavin’s every-day-dude mentality will transition seamlessly into our Cowboy Culture.  Help me give a wild west welcome to Gavin Gores and his family!”

Nasir (Naz) Meyer – Guard – 6-7 – 185 Pounds – Los Angeles, Calif. (New Hampton Prep)

He currently is playing at New Hampton Prep in New Hampshire. He recorded 35 points with seven threes against Western Reserve at the National Prep Championship. He also played at Agoura High School in California averaging 19.4 points per game, 8.4 rebound and 2.4 assists per game. He was also recruited by Marquette and Arizona State

Wicks on Meyer

“Naz is a proven winner and comes to Cowboy Country from one of the top prep basketball programs in the country where he has been coached at a high level by Andrew Gale and Ky Feldman. What I love about Naz is that he is a Swiss army knife as a player.  He has a deep toolbox and can fix any issue we might have in a hurry.  At 6’7 Naz is the ultimate connector.  He can defend any position, he can play any position offensively, and he can connect with any type of human culturally. Poke fans are going to love his competitiveness, his electric play-making ability and his willingness to leave it all on the court for his team.  Wyoming faithful, lets welcome Mr. Fix It himself, Nasir Meyer to Cowboy Country!”

Neil Summers – Forward – 6-9 – 240 Pounds – Laramie, Wyo. (Laramie High School)

An All-state selection last season at Laramie High School, Summers averaged 17 points and 11 rebounds per game leading his team to the state title game. He led the state in rebounding and was fifth in the state in scoring including games of 31 point and 21 points. He scored 20 points and had 15 rebounds in the state title game as a junior. He was an All-State in his sophomore season averaging 12 points and 11 rebounds per game. The Plainsmen played in the 4A Championship in that 2022-23 season. He will be reunited with former teammate Levi Brown on the Cowboys.

Wicks on Summers

“How lucky are we to have one of our own in this year’s recruiting cycle?!  When we got the job in May, there was one Wyoming native son I knew we had to have and that was Neil Summers.  In my opinion, Neil will be a secret weapon for the Pokes.  Seldom are you able to find a player with Neil’s size and skill that can play inside and outside.  He has an unreal feel for the game.  How do you judge feel?  The answer, by one’s ability to pass the ball.  Neil will be able to connect our offense in a 5-out setting while also being able to play point guard in the post.  Get ready Cowboy Country because it’s going to be Summer(s) all winter!!!  The backyard big guy is here to stay!”
