COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (October 8, 2024) – For the second time this season and the third over his career, junior Jacob White was named the Mountain West men’s cross country Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday.

White led a Cowboys team to a fourth-place finish over the then No. 30 Michigan State team at the Joe Piane Invitational, last weekend. His personal-best time of 22:49.3 set a program record and earned him ninth place overall.

This is the first time a Cowboy has won Athlete of the Week twice in a season since Paul Roberts did so in 2018. White is also the first runner to win the award three times since Roberts won across the 2018-19 seasons. Only Mark Korir Jr. has won more with seven honors from 2006 to 2008.

White joins senior Kylie Simshauser as the only Mountain West runners to win the award twice this season.

Wyoming will run again at Pre Nationals in Madison, Wis., the host site for the NCAA Championships, on October 19.
