When You Don’t Feel Loved by God

When you don’t feel loved by God, remember: His love isn’t measured by feelings but by the cross. This post encourages believers to trust God’s truth over emotion and keep walking by faith.
I believe in God with all my heart. I’ve accepted the salvation He offered through His Son, Jesus Christ. He is my Lord and my Savior, and I’ve surrendered my life to Him. I trust His Word. I walk in His truth.
But there’s something I struggle with:
I read over and over that God loves me… yet I don’t feel His love.
I’ve asked myself more than once: What’s wrong with me?
Why don’t I feel what the Bible says is true?
The answer I’ve come to is simple:
There’s nothing wrong with me. There’s just something I didn’t understand.
God’s love isn’t proven by feelings—it’s proven by the cross.
The Bible doesn’t say I’ll feel it.
It says I’ll know it.
God’s Word says:
“We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love…” 1 John 4:16
It says “know and believe”—not “feel.”
And here’s what I’m learning:
Knowing God’s love is a choice. A choice to believe what He says, even when my heart doesn’t feel it.
Faith walks before feelings. Some days the road is dry, and I can’t feel anything—but I keep walking. Why?
Because He already proved His love at the cross.
“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8
That’s not a feeling. That’s a fact. That’s the kind of love I can trust—even when I can’t sense it.
And I’ve noticed something:
The more I believe what God says about His love, the more I start to feel it. Not all at once. Not always deeply. But it comes. Not from chasing emotion, but from trusting the truth.
So if you’re like me—and you’ve struggled to feel loved by God—don’t beat yourself up. Don’t wonder if something’s wrong with you. Don’t measure His love by your emotions.
Measure it by the cross.
Know it. Believe it. Walk in it.
And let the feelings come when they come.
His love isn’t going anywhere.
