When I See the Blood

When we ask ourselves, âWhen people look at me, do they see the blood?â we are prompted to consider the significance of Christâs sacrifice. Just as the Israelites were marked by the blood of the lamb, we are marked by the blood of Jesus, our Savior.
Thereâs a question every believer must ask: When people look at you, do they see the blood? Itâs a powerful question because it cuts straight to the heart of what it means to be a follower of Christ. Just as the Israelites were marked by the blood of the lamb on their doorposts, we are marked by the blood of Jesus Christ. And when God looks at us, what does He see?
In Exodus 12:13, God tells the Israelites, âWhen I see the blood, I will pass over you, and no plague will befall you to destroy you...â The blood of the lamb was a sign of protection, a mark of belonging to Godâs people. It was a sign that, when Godâs judgment came, they were spared.
In the same way, the blood of Christ marks us as His. âMuch more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Himâ (Romans 5:9). We have been justified, redeemed, and set free because of Jesus' blood shed on the cross. That blood is our covering, our protection, and our salvation.
But itâs not just about what the blood does for us; itâs also about what the blood shows to the world. âKnowing that you were not redeemed with perishable things... but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christâ (1 Peter 1:18-19). The blood of Christ is precious, and it marks us as belonging to Him. It is a sign of the highest value and should be visible in our lives.
What does it look like to have the blood of Christ marked on our lives? It means living a life that reflects His sacrifice. It means our actions, our words, and our hearts should show the world who we belong to. The blood of Christ not only marks us but also cleanses us. âHow much more will the blood of Christ... cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?â (Hebrews 9:14). The blood transforms us, purifies us, and empowers us to live for God.
The blood of Christ brings us near to God. âBut now in Christ Jesus you who formerly were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christâ (Ephesians 2:13). Itâs the blood that reconciles us with God, drawing us close to Him, making us one with Him. Itâs no longer about our works, but about His sacrifice, which gives us direct access to God.
As believers, we are called to live in the reality of the blood of Christ. When God looks at us, does He see that mark of redemption? Do others see the evidence of His sacrifice in our lives? âTo Him who loves us and released us from our sins by His bloodâ (Revelation 1:5). The blood is not just something we acknowledge; it is something we live by. Itâs the mark that sets us apart, that identifies us as His, and that gives us the strength to walk in His ways.
When people look at us, do they see the blood? Not in a physical sense, but in the way we live, love, and reflect the Savior who gave His life for us. His blood marks us, and itâs through that mark that we are called to be lights in the world.
