4. God Wants a Church at Peace with Itself
Peace is a hallmark of God’s church. God is not the author of confusion, but of peace.
1 Corinthians 14:33
“For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.”
We are encouraged to live in peace with one another, knowing that God’s love brings unity.
Ephesians 4:3
“endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”
Romans 14:19
“Therefore let us pursue the things which make for peace and the things by which one may edify another.”
God also treasures peacemakers within the church:
Matthew 5:9
“Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God.”
Proverbs 12:20
“Deceit is in the heart of those who devise evil, But counselors of peace have joy.”
God longs for His church to be a place of unity and peace, where believers live in harmony and love one another sincerely. When we pursue peace and strive to resolve our differences in godly ways, we reflect the heart of Christ to a world in need of reconciliation. A church that maintains peace within itself becomes a powerful witness of God’s love and grace.
Conclusion:
In a world where churches may focus on meeting social or entertainment needs, it’s essential to remember what God desires. He wants a church that is spiritually minded, evangelistic, doctrinally pure, and at peace within itself. When we align our church with God’s desires, we are building something that glorifies Him and fulfills His purposes. Let’s always seek to be a church that honors God above all else.
