What does fair mean to me?
Fair week is always one of the busiest times in the small town of Newcastle, Wyoming. Even though we might be small, it is still jam-packed full of fun.
Though I have been involved with fair since I was 8 years old, I still enjoy the thrill of going every year to enjoy the rides, bouncy houses, animals — you name it! It has always been one of the most memorable times of my life.
Whether you’re young, old, new or an old-hand, there is always something for everyone at the fair. The schedule on pg B6 is filled to the brim with activities. For example, one of my favorite events since I began going was the pig wrestling right outside the east entrance of the fairgrounds, next to the events center. It always draws big crowds with lots of ‘oohs’ and ‘aahhhs’.
I love seeing the community come out and be a part of Weston County Fair. Even though the kids that are involved put in a ton of work, people have a place in it too. The community and the people within it have an essential role in every single aspect of the fair.
Even the smaller kiddos would be entertained. There are bouncy houses and rides from Wednesday to Friday (July 30-Aug. 1) of fair week.
More specifically, from my time in 4-H to my time now in FFA, I have always been involved in the fair. Whether I’m watching my brother pig wrestle, showing horses or market animals, or competing in the rodeo, you’ve probably seen me around at some point in the last couple years. I try to never miss a day, but sometimes it’s inevitable.
Come support Weston County Fair as it approaches. We would love to see you there!
