The history of Weston County and surrounding areas is preserved for area residents, visitors, and future generations within the Weston County Museum District’s two museums, the Anna Miller Museum in Newcastle and the Red Onion Museum in Upton. Exhibits within the two museums include artifacts of early coal mining, fossils, early ranch life, history of early lawmakers and a tribute to veterans, just to name a few. Both museums are open Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. year-round, and by appointment.
Both museums welcome groups and tours of the museums. In addition to the many historical displays and interactive areas, each museum also has a gift shop with unique items for sale. Available on CD is the book, “First 100 Years of Weston County,” as well as Wyoming and Black Hills books, photographs, cookbooks, and music.
