By
Preslee Fitzwater β€” Student Voice

At Newcastle High School, the Class of 2026 has achieved a remarkable academic milestone, with three students earning the distinction of valedictorian: Callie Christensen, Collin McConkey, and myself. We have each demonstrated exceptional dedication, leadership and commitment throughout our high school careers, leaving a lasting legacy on the school and community.Β

Earning valedictorian honors is no small accomplishment, and having three students share this recognition speaks volumes about the strength and determination of this graduating class. Each of us have balanced rigorous academic coursework with involvement in extracurricular activities, embodying the well-rounded excellence that Newcastle High School strives to cultivate in its students.Β

Callie Christensen has been an active participant in school athletics, contributing to both volleyball and basketball during her time as a student-athlete. Her ability to maintain strong academic performance while competing at the varsity level highlights her discipline, teamwork and perseverance. Beyond athletics Callie is recognized for her positive attitude and commitment to NHS extracurriculars.

Collin McConkey has also demonstrated outstanding balance between academics and extracurricular involvement. As a key member of the football team and competitive track athlete, Collin has shown leadership, resilience and a strong work ethic. His success both on the field and in the classroom reflects his determination to push himself and represent his school with pride.Β

In addition, I have made every effort to make a meaningful impact through academic excellence, state leadership and involvement in school activities. I have been known for dedication and strong character, representing the heart of what it means to be a Dogie: Driven, compassionate and
committed to making a difference that reaches far beyond my own community.Β

Together, we three valedictorians exemplify the values of hard work, perseverance and community. These achievements are not only personal milestones, but also a source of pride for our families, peers and the entire Newcastle community. As we prepare to take the next steps in our journey, whether in higher education, careers or service, we carry with us the lessons and experiences that have shaped us into leaders of tomorrow.Β

The Class of 2026 will be remembered not only for its accomplishments but also for the examples set by its valedictorians as well as our entire class. Once a Dogie, Always a Dogie.
